But as she's thrust into a world of psychic powers and dangerous magic, Jazz isn't just bargain for her friend's freedom. She's bargaining for her soul too.
And how high a price is she willing to pay?

My Thoughts
I am a big fan of Rachel Caine's Marganville Vampire series, so I was excited to see she had another series aimed for adults. This one starts out as a straight detective story or ex-detective in this case but slowly pushes in a supernatural feel.
Jazz is an ex-cop that was pushed out of her job because her partner was convicted of murder and others think that she must be a dirty cop by association. All Jazz wants to do is find any evidence to acquit Ben and get her best friend out of jail. Instead she is offered a job from a law firm to partner up with another, Lucia and form a private investigation firm. James Borden comes in with the offer and Jazz is tempted by more than the 100k check.
This is a fun book with two strong female characters and is adult without crossing the line. I love a good mystery or romance and this one gives me both. I would recommend this one to adults who are tired of all the teenage angst and are looking for someone a bit more their own age. I love YA but sometimes I need another perspective. Devil's Bargain gives me that. There is a second book told from Lucia's point of view and I am excited to read that one over my Thanksgiving break!
