Book Jacket Summary
In Animal Fairy Tales, beautiful illustrations and simple text retell classic fairy tales from a new perspective: all the characters are animals! This book, a retelling of The Princess and the Pea, tells the story of the Poodle and the Pea, in which a lost dog is revealed to be a princess after a servant has a good idea.

My Thoughts
Fairy tales hold a special place in everyone's hearts and there are so many retellings that it is hard to know which ones to get. I have a large personal collection and I am always looking for new ones at the library. I saw this one on NetGalley and knew I had to request it!
This is a simple retelling of the Princess and the Pea by Hans Christian Anderson and it sticks with the original premise only with dogs as the lead characters. This is adorable and poodles in dresses make me smile. Gullain has a author's note with the history of the Princess and the Pea, plus a writing prompt asking kids how they would make the story uniquely theirs. It would make a great classroom book or library find for children who know the original story and want a twist.
