Book Jacket Summary
Lulu loves animals. When Lulu goes on vacation, she finds there's a stray dog living on the beach. Everyone in the town thinks the dog is trouble. But Lulu is sure he just needs a friend. And that he's been waiting for someone just like her. The second book in this early chapter book series for young animal-lovers.

My Thoughts
Lulu and Mellie are cousins and best friends! Mellie loves to color and draw while Lulu loves her animals and has bunches, including her old dog Sam. The family goes on vacation by the beach and all Mellie wants to do is decorate and fly her new kite and Lulu wants to know more about the dog from the sea that lives in the sand dunes. He steals food when ever he can but he is afraid of the humans that took away his family. However, he warms up to Lulu who sneaks him food at night and to Mellie who watches from the window. On the last day of their vacation by the sea Mellie finally gets to fly her kite but falls and sprains her ankle. The dog from the sea saves the day and as the family says, "More the merrier!"
This is the perfect book for children who are starting to read chapter books, especially one who loves animals. Lulu loves her animals and it looks like she may have another after her adventures at the beach!
