Book Jacket Summary
What if you can leap tall buildings and defeat alien monsters with your bare hands, but you buy your capes at secondhand stores, and have a weakness for kittens, and a snarky comment from Skeptical Guy can ruin a whole afternoon? Cartoonist Faith Erin Hicks brings her skills in character design and sharp, charming humor to the trials and tribulations of a young, superhero battling monsters both supernatural and mundane in an all-too-ordinary world.

My Thoughts
Oh Faith Erin Hicks how I love you! You have become my favorite graphic novelist and this one sealed the deal! This is a story about the daily life of a female superhero named Superhero Girl. The first few panels have her dealing with ever day life, like shrinking her cape, having to get a new one, and forgetting to take off her mask in her down time. The story continues with her fighting crime, ninjas, and giant alien octopi. I was giggling throughout this comic and I love Hicks' art style.
There is more to this than a hero parody because Superhero Girl also lives in the shadow of her more successful brother. She is trying to find her own identity and carve out a city of her own. There is also some roommate drama because she cannot afford an apartment on her own. Apparently being an unmarketed superhero does not pay well.
I would highly recommend this one to those of you who like graphic novels and like a strong heroine in your comics. You can check it out online at http://superherogirladventures.blogspot.com/ but I recommend buying the book so you can flip through it time and time again!
